Keith - Thank you for sharing the wonderful words that you have about Melaine with all of us. I worked with her at Prudential, she was such a joy to be around. I wish you and Jay the best in your lives.

I was at St Paul's on Friday last and just wanted to say how moving the whole service was. Your speech was wonderful and it made me rush home to my husband and hug him for about 10 minutes; what you said about loving people as they need to be loved really resonated. I had such a vivid picture of Melaine from your list of things you missed - they are all things that we could have foreseen her growing into if we had had the gift of foresight at the age of 11. I was at Clayesmore Prep with her, and although we were not in the same house in the senior school and therefore not really close friends, I have very fond and clear memories of her from our two years in the Prep. We had a strange friendship system in those days - you had to ask people 'to be my best friend', rather like asking someone to go steady and they then could 'dump' you (or you them) when the magic was no longer there. I had a glorious 2 weeks as Melaine's best friend (although she ditched me unceremoniously in Mr Moxham's Geography lesson!) and I admired her hugely. She was always so calm (and tidy!) and gentle. Her hair was a source of great envy; she wore these elegant Alice Bands, long before the fashion world discovered them, and always looked so pretty and neat. Mrs Geary always held her up as an example to the scruffier amongst us. I know these things must sound like fairly pointless and trivial memories, but you must remember we were vacuous pre-teen girls then and strange things are etched on your memory at that age! Anyway, looking at the photos of Melaine on your blog, what struck me was that she still had beautiful hair and she still looked beautiful and neat. IN the video of her you made, she was also so dignified and seemed so calm; it made me wish I had known her more as an adult. Sorry if this isn't the right forum for waffling like this - I wanted to email you direct but I don't understand all this modern technology and this seemed to be the only way to get in contact. You are a brave man and clearly a wonderful father; I've lost count of the number of people who knew Melaine far better than I, and knew her more recently, who have said what a loving and devoted husband you were to her and how profoundly happy you made her. I wish you and Jay all the best in your lives together.

Beautiful, Keith. We miss her terribly, too, and it's wonderful to hear these words of yours. I can't wait to see you and Jay again.

Thank you for posting this today Keith. I wish we could have been there to share our love with you, but you more than anyone now know that love transcends the physical. With you in spirit and in friendship, we wish you peace and strength.
